Today, Rice Paper Scissors popped the cork on its semi-permanent lunch home within the friendly confines of Brick & Mortar in the Mission.

The Vietnamese food pop-up from Valerie Luu and Katie Kwan has been making appearances around San Francisco for quite some time now, as denoted by its signature red stools. Rice Paper Scissors even got a visit from Anthony Bourdain on the San Francisco episode of The Layover.

They can still be found Thursday nights at their regular post at Mojo Cafe on Divis, but now Luu and Kwan are rocking out Brick & Mortar during the lunch hours, last used by Bacon Bacon. The RPS menu (click here to view) is short and sweet: two starters of pate chaud (one chicken, one vegetable; $6 each) and three entrees: fried egg banh mi ($9) with cha lua, housemade mayo, chicken, liver pate, and usual banh mi vegetables; a Hanoi-style beef pho ($13); and a vegan-friendly Madras yellow coconut curry with fried tofu and market vegetables ($13).

For now, hours are Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Cash only.
